The PUMO machining center spindle can be seen as an upgraded and evolved version of the CNC lathe spindle. It is no longer just "turning with the workpiece", but has become "turning with the tool", and it needs to complete composite actions such as milling, drilling, boring, and tapping at high speed and high precision in three-dimensional space.

The core differences and key technical points between PUMO machining center spindle and lathe spindle are as follows:

·BT/HSK tool holder interface (determining tool change accuracy): This is the most unique structure of the machining center. The spindle inner hole is locked to the tool holder by a pull pin and a spring clamp. The mainstream specifications are divided into the BT series (7:24 taper, positioned by the taper, good rigidity) and the HSK series (1:10 taper with end face fitting, suitable for high-speed machining). When replacing the tool, the air blowing mechanism inside the spindle will instantly spray high-pressure gas, automatically cleaning the iron filings in the taper hole to prevent positional deviation after tool replacement.

·Loose clamping tool mechanism (realizing automatic tool change): The rear end of the spindle is equipped with a hydraulic or pneumatic cutting cylinder. When changing the knife, the knife cylinder pushes the pull rod down and releases the clamp to let the old knife fall down; After the new knife is inserted, the gripper automatically locks under the elastic force of the disc spring. This action usually takes only 1.5 to 3 seconds to complete on a machining center.

·Cooling and lubrication (ensuring high-speed service life): There is a forced circulation oil cooling or oil air lubrication system inside, specifically designed to dissipate heat from high-speed rotating bearings. The front end of the spindle will also spray cutting fluid, which is directly poured onto the cutting edge of the tool for cooling and chip removal.

·Spindle orientation (achieving precise rigid tapping): The spindle can be precisely stopped at a specific angle through an encoder. This is essential for automatic tool changing (ensuring the alignment of the tool holder keyway) and rigid tapping (strictly synchronizing spindle rotation with Z-axis feed, without the need for a floating chuck).

·Performance stratification of PUMO machining center spindle (three mainstream levels):

·Gear head spindle: High low-speed torque, suitable for heavy cutting (such as rough milling of mold steel).

·Belt type spindle: Medium speed (8000-10000rpm), with the strongest versatility.

·Electric spindle: The motor rotor is directly made on the spindle core, with extremely high speed (15000-42000rpm) and low vibration, making it the preferred choice for precision molds and high-speed processing of aluminum alloys.
